ALA Booklist
In the late 1980s, an attempt to reduce school violence was made through the introduction of peer mediation programs. This new volume in the Need to Know Library series focuses on one of the three components of the mediation programs--the student (peer) portion. Rue begins with a short history of the process and its successes, following with the rules and procedures for establishing and running the program in a school. Case-study examples and photographs are scattered throughout. Like other books in the series, the print is large. However, the vocabulary and the concepts dealt with suggest that this volume is best suited to teens with higher-level thinking skills. A glossary, resource list, and bibliography are appended.
