Today, Lisa is still making up stories and painting pictures, only now, they fill the pages of children’s books. She has received awards for both her writing and illustration, including a Parents’ Choice Recommended Book Award, an ILA-CBC Children’s Choices Book of the Year Award, a Carolyn W. Field Honor Book Award, a National Parenting Product (NAPPA) Honor Award, a Storytelling Award, and several state reading list awards. Madeline Finn and the Library Dog has been translated into twenty-three languages.
“Madeline Finn and the Shelter Dog is inspired by the real ‘Mr. Chips’ and so many of my favorite therapy dogs, who were rescued from shelters and now live their lives helping children. They know the true meaning of giving back,” Lisa shares. “I'm a big fan of dogs and cats, and really any kind of animal. I'm also a big fan of stories told from the heart. Lisa lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, Robert, also an artist, and three wildly creative cats—to whom she does read.
