Mackenzie Porter is a health care professional, teacher, and writer. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Public Health in Social and Behavioral Science from Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. Mackenzie founded and serves as Chairman for the MCPHD Healthy Families Infant Mortality Prevention Committee.

Mackenzie explains her transition from teaching to community healthcare, “My valuable experience in the classroom served as a small window into the lives of the children, parents, and families in my community. While committed to my responsibilities as a teacher, my heart was pulled to learn more about what was going on at home—the barriers and stressors the family was experiencing—and to provide support to help overcome those barriers that were impacting the child in the classroom, and beyond.”

Mackenzie loves writing books inspired by her family. In her spare time, she loves to travel anywhere and everywhere. She lives in Indianapolis, Indiana, with her husband, daughter, dog, and the rest of her big Greek family.
