Understanding the CARES Act
Let Perma-Bound help you make the most of CARES Act funding for your school.
What is the CARES Act?
The $2.3 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020, and the U.S. Department of Education issued additional guidance in April. The law includes $13.5 billion in funding for K-12 education, given to schools that received Title 1 funding through ESSA (the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) during the 2020 fiscal year. What does it mean—and how can we help?
This one-time cash infusion—equal to about 80 percent of regular Title I funding—comes with a great deal of flexibility. One way the funds can be used is to fill in gaps in curriculum and library materials, such as books, supplemental education resources, and distance-learning programs and tools.
Our credentialed Collection Development staff and professional sales force can help you get the most value for your CARES Act dollars, and can assist you in locating additional funds through the free grants and funding tool on this page.
