Texas State Standards for Arts Education: Kindergarten

Currently Perma-Bound only has suggested titles for grades K-8 in the Science and Social Studies areas. We are working on expanding this.

TX.117.2 (K.1.) Art: Perception: The student develops and organizes ideas from the environment.

K.1. (A) The student is expected to glean information from the environment, using the five senses.

K.1. (B) The student is expected to identify colors, textures, forms, and subjects in the environment.

TX.117.2 (K.2.) Art: Creative expression/performance: The student expresses ideas through original artworks, using a variety of media with appropriate skill.

K.2. (A) The student is expected to create artworks, using a variety of colors, forms, and lines.

K.2. (B) The student is expected to arrange forms intuitively to create artworks.

K.2. (C) The student is expected to develop manipulative skills when drawing, painting, printmaking, and constructing artworks, using a variety of materials.

TX.117.2 (K.3.) Art: Historical/cultural heritage: The student demonstrates an understanding of art history and culture as records of human achievement.

K.3. (A) The student is expected to identify simple subjects expressed in artworks.

K.3. (B) The student is expected to share ideas about personal artworks and the work of others, demonstrating respect for differing opinions.

K.3. (C) The student is expected to relate art to everyday life.

TX.117.2 (K.4.) Art: Response/evaluation: The student makes informed judgments about personal artworks and the artworks of others.

K.4. (A) The student is expected to express ideas about personal artworks.

K.4. (B) The student is expected to express ideas about original artworks, portfolios, and exhibitions by peers and artists.

TX.117.3 (K.1.) Music: Perception: The student describes and analyzes musical sound and demonstrates musical artistry.

K.1. (A) The student is expected to identify the difference between the singing and speaking voice.

K.1. (B) The student is expected to identify the timbre of adult voices and instruments.

TX.117.3 (K.2.) Music: Creative expression/performance: The student performs a varied repertoire of music.

K.2. (A) The student is expected to sing or play classroom instruments independently or in a group.

K.2. (B) The student is expected to sing songs from diverse cultures and styles or play such songs on musical instruments.

TX.117.3 (K.3.) Music: Historical/cultural heritage: The student relates music to history, to society, and to culture.

K.3. (A) The student is expected to sing songs and play musical games from different cultures.

K.3. (B) The student is expected to identify simple relationships between music and other subjects.

TX.117.3 (K.4.) Music: Response/evaluation: The student responds to and evaluates music and musical performance.

K.4. (A) The student is expected to identify steady beat in musical performances.

K.4. (B) The student is expected to identify higher/lower, louder/softer, faster/slower, and same/different in musical performances.

TX.117.4 (K.1.) Theatre: Perception: The student develops concepts about self, human relationships, and the environment, using elements of drama and conventions of theatre.

K.1. (A) The student is expected to develop self-awareness through dramatic play.

K.1. (B) The student is expected to explore space, using expressive movement.

K.1. (C) The student is expected to imitate sounds.

K.1. (D) The student is expected to imitate and recreate objects in dramatic play.

TX.117.4 (K.2.) Theatre: Creative expression/performance: The student interprets characters, using the voice and body expressively, and creates dramatizations.

K.3. (A) The student is expected to create playing space, using simple materials.

K.3. (B) The student is expected to create costumes, using simple materials.

K.3. (C) The student is expected to plan dramatic play.

K.3. (D) The student is expected to cooperate with others in dramatic play.

K.4. (A) The student is expected to play and replay real and imaginative situations of various cultures.

K.4. (B) The student is expected to play and replay stories from American history.
