Sets and Suggested Booklists Help

Overview

Perma-Bound.com includes thousands of product sets. These sets include different quantities and varieties of items. From author-specific series to thematic grade-level lists to national and state award winners, we offer a wide-array of sets. We also provide sets that have been recommended by state associations and organizations. The Suggested Booklists area takes the most popular of our sets and product series and organizes them by category for browsing convenience.

Sets

When viewing List and Search Results pages, the message, "SET OF XXX ITEMS", will appear within the Title Information area instead of author, publisher, and date of publication. Click on the title of the set or the "Book Set" icon to view all of the contents of that set.

Sets Search

You can search for Sets through use of the Advanced Search tool by selecting Sets in the Product Type drop-down box in conjunction with any of the other search criteria. You will be taken to a search results page listing the relevant sets.

Adding Sets to Lists

The process of adding product sets to a list is the same as for single titles. If your search result includes product sets:

  1. To view the contents of a set, click on the title of that set or the "Book Set" icon. This takes you to the title detail page for the set.
  2. You can add either the whole set to the selected list using the add button at the top of the page under the set title, or use the page as you would a search result page to add individual title(s) from the set.
  3. You will see a message, "In List" in red text indicating those items which are part of a set.

NOTE: Perma-Bound.com's ordering system designates each product set as a single item for total order quantity. This means that when you have added a set to a list and clicked on "Contents" to view the included titles, no options will be present in the "Add" area for a set contained in your current list - your selected set already includes each of these titles in that set and you will receive them when placing your order. To add multiple quantities of certain titles in a set see the instructions below.

Adding multiple quantities.

Because our ordering system designates each product set as a single item, adding multiple quantities of a title included within a set to a list will cause those additional items to appear on your list as separate items.

EXAMPLE: You want a literature set that includes the novel Slaughterhouse-Five, and you need 30 additional copies of the novel for your classroom. In order to do this:

  1. After adding the list to your set, view the contents of a set, click on the title of that set or the "Book Set" icon, then click on the title of Slaughterhouse Five to go to its title detail page, enter 30 in the quantity and click on add. The novel will now appear separately in your list with a quantity of 30, and you will receive 31 copies in total - one from the product set you have previously added as well as the 30 you just added.
  2. Before adding the set to your list, enter "30" in the Qty box next to Slaughterhouse Five. Then add the set to your list. The novel will now appear separately in your list with a quantity of 30, and you will receive 31 copies in total - one from the product set as well as the 30 for your classroom.

Removing Products from a Set

Because our ordering system designates each product set as a single item, you cannot remove titles from a set. However, for those cases in which you find yourself wanting to order a particular set minus a few titles, we recommend the following process:

  1. Be sure the set is not included in your current list.
  2. Click on the set title to view the set contents page.
  3. Use this page like any search results page by individually selecting and adding the items using either the add buttons or the "Add All Checked Items on this Page to List" option accessed from Add in the left-hand menu.
    OR
You can also use "Add All Items in Set" from Add in the left-hand menu, view your list and sort as desired to easily, and individually remove those items you do not want or need.

Suggested Booklists

As part of the new site redesign, we've divided up our current Suggested Booklists page up into several new locations. Some of our lists have gone away in favor of websites providing links to search results with the same or similar content—so you can refine the searches and get customized results—other lists are now simply accessed in the standard format through other pages. At this time, all of the former Suggested Booklists are listed under the Featured Items section of the left-hand menu; however over time many of them will be removed from this section to make room for other featured items to be highlighted, so familiarize yourself with their permanent locations.

Canadian Related Lists The Canadian Related Lists  are linked from the Canadian web page .

International Booklists The International Lists  are currently accessible from the left-hand menu; they will also be featured on the upcoming International page which is still in development.

Basal Textbook Publisher Correlations The Basal Textbook Publisher Correlations  are listed under the Featured Items section of the left-hand menu.

Catalogs/Brochures The old Catalogs/Brochures lists have been removed, instead we have added strong content in the Promotions section of the left-hand menu featuring our catalogs  page. You can also do an Easy Search for Perma-Bound  and your results will display our catalogs and flyers as items available for you to order, and like all searches you can filter and sort this search as well.

Correlations (Professional Books) The old Correlations (Professional Books) list is now listed as Professional Book Correlations  under the Featured Items section of the left-hand menu.

National Awards The old National Awards lists are now gone, in their place we have a new Awards and Reviewing Agencies page and the annually updated ALA Awards page. From the Awards and Reviewing Agencies  page, you can view descriptions of many of the awards. On this page, links are provided to return search results for all recipients of a particular award or only the winners, honorees, or nominees based upon the specific award. The ALA Awards  page shows the current year's winners, honorees, and nominees for many of the ALA Awards.

State Related Lists The State Related Lists  for each state are located on their individual state pages. These state pages are accessed from the State Information section of the left-hand menu.

Subjects/Themes The Subjects/Themes  lists are listed under the Featured Items section of the left-hand menu. We also recommend our Easy Search.

FAQs - Sets and Suggested Booklists

What's the difference between Suggested Booklists and sets?

Suggested Booklists are popular sets and product series that have been organized by category for your browsing convenience.

How do I search for sets?

You can search for Sets through use of the Advanced Search tool by selecting Sets in the Product Type drop-down box in conjunction with any of the other search criteria.

How do I find Suggested Booklists?

Suggested Booklists are organized by categories for easy browsing and are accessed through the link in the blue navigation bar towards the top of the page.

How do I add sets to a custom list?

The process is much the same as entering individual titles. For a step-by-step description, click here.

I was looking at a printout for my order or quote and noticed it includes unwanted duplicates for many titles - what happened?

You may have navigated to the Contents page for a particular set and then added check-marks for each of the items listed there (unnecessary, because you always receive every title included in a particular set), or you may have added multiple sets to your list and those sets included many common items. If you want to remove these duplicates, consider removing one or more of the sets then adding other desired titles individually. For a description of how to remove products from sets, click here. You can also use the "Check for Duplicates" feature in the Lists and Quotes tab in the Lists / Orders / Quotes section of your My Account page to check for duplicates in lists before submitting quotes or orders.
