Easy Search

How do I use it?

You can find Easy Search in the upper right-hand corner of every page of our site. When you type in a search in the search box, the Easy Search is the default. You can perform an Easy Search by simply typing the word(s) or phrase you would like to search for in the entry box, and then press Enter on your keyboard or click on the magnifying glass search icon.

As you type you will see other search options displayed below, including the ability to select specific field searches (Title, Author, ISBN, Series, etc.) followed by popular and/or relevant Easy Search options below based on what you have started to type.

Special Features!

You can use the following Boolean operator words and/or symbols to broaden or narrow down your search even further.

Boolean Words:

  • AND
  • OR
  • NOT

Symbols:

  • + (addition symbol)
  • - (subtraction symbol)
  • "Quotation Marks"

What fields are searched?

This new search feature is designed with one thing in mind-to save you time! Easy Search is designed to allow input of any one of the following types of search criteria and bring back the matching results. So that means no more toggling back and forth between the other search methods.

  • Language
  • LCCN Number
  • Subject
  • Title
  • Author
  • Illustrator
  • Publisher
  • PB Catalog number
  • ISBN Number
  • Series
  • Product Type
  • Short Stories
  • Description

Results

Whenever an Easy Search is performed, the results it brings back will be automatically sorted and displayed according to their relevance to your search criteria. We use a strict criteria matching program in conjunction with a title weighting system to bring back the results that you want to see right at the top of your search!
