Picture book author, poetry lover, teacher, and award winner Dianne White graduated from junior high in the Philippines and high school in Hong Kong. She earned a college degree in French and Spanish, an elementary bilingual teaching credential, a master ‘s in Language and Literacy, and an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts.

As a child, Dianne loved reading books, playing music, and learning new languages. She taught for twenty-five years, and it was there, in her classroom, that she began to dream about writing books for young readers.

Dianne now writes full-time but enjoys inspiring and encouraging students – at school visits and workshop presentations – to write their own stories. “Poem-Making,” “The Extraordinary Ordinary,” “Behind-the-Scenes,” and “Piecing a Story Puzzle” are a few of her hands-on writing workshops.

Dianne raised three sons, and lives with her husband in Gilbert, Arizona. She still loves to travel, study languages, share a meal with friends, and make almost daily trips to the library. She continues to be inspired by the beauty in nature, the wonder of words, and the power of poetry.
