Jacqueline Woodson is the 2018-2019 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. She is the author of more than two dozen award-winning books for young adults, middle graders, and children.

She has received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the Children’s Literature Legacy Award, the National Book Award, two Coretta Scott King Awards, four Newbery Honor Awards, the NAACP Image Award, the Sibert Honor, the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement, and the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award. She has also been named a Young People’s Poet Laureate by the Poetry Foundation.

Jacqueline’s writing offers hope as her characters break through physical and mental boundaries while exploring issues of gender, class, race, family, and history.
