Students live in a world that is dominated by technology. However, we know that technological marvels like cell phones and iPods haven’t been around that long. These and numerous other items, from the microwave to the laptop, have made our lives easier and more entertaining— but each required someone to dream of it, and then make it a reality.
That is why innovators are so important. How different would our lives be if Bill Gates or Steve Jobs hadn’t chosen the paths they did, or had lacked the gifts and skills that enabled them to innovate and make the world better?
The world needs more innovators! We can start developing and encouraging our youth in this direction by introducing them to the inventors responsible for today’s technology. By studying the lives of these innovators, students will learn that anyone can have a dream and work to make it a reality.
Encourage your students to dream, and introduce them to these great minds. Who knows— one of them might change our world forever!
