What’s For Dinner?

It’s no secret that our country faces a childhood obesity epidemic. Thousands of children fall into this category, and while it’s easy to identify the causes, finding the solution is the challenge. That is where educating your students about leading a healthy lifestyle comes in.

You can prepare your students to lead a healthy lifestyle in the classroom by educating them on how to make proper diet choices and encouraging them to get plenty of exercise. For example, take advantage of “snack time” as a teachable moment. Your students’ attention will be focused on food, and they may be serving, perhaps even preparing it; what better time to teach them about healthy foods!

Combine classroom activities you are already doing with the promotion of better health. For instance, teaching children how to read is obviously very important. So is showing them how to be a healthier individual. Offering your students books to help guide them along the path to fitness is a great way to promote the message of being healthy!
