Life is good for Hollywood princess Kaitlin Burke, ready to star in a movie by her favorite director, but an old love and a scheming new publicist complicate her already hectic existence. It seems like the summer of dreams come true for Hollywood celebrity princess Kaitlin Burke: the media loves her (again), super-cute and funny Austin Meyers is finally her boyfriend, and she's starring in a blockbuster movie by her all-time favorite director Hutch Adams. What could be sweeter? But life on set is not nearly as perfect as the designer makeup and couture costumes. And with a slimy ex-boyfriend and a scheming new publicist on the scene, it's about to get a whole lot messier.... This commercial and appealing sequel to Secrets of My Hollywood Life combines the vicarious glamour of the New York Times bestselling A-List series with the innocence of The Princess Diaries.
Horn Book
Sixteen-year-old television actor Kaitlin is looking forward to spending the summer filming a movie with her favorite director. She doesn't count on co-starring with her worst enemy, pretending to date her ex-boyfriend, and dealing with tabloid stories. Kaitlin's problems aren't all that engaging, but readers who can't get enough of Entertain Tonight may be mildly diverted.
School Library Journal
Gr 7 Up In Secrets of My Hollywood Life (Little, Brown, 2006), starlet Kaitlin was overwhelmed with instant success and temporarily traded it in for normality. Now she has been cast in a movie by a super-popular directorjust the break that she needs from her TV show. The project costars her ex-boyfriend, Drew, and her arch nemesis, creating tension on the set. Worse still is a media campaign that forces the teen to be seen with Drew, which upsets her new boyfriend. Readers will almost feel sorry for Kaitlin, but she handles everything with the charm, poise, and temper of a teenage girl. It is refreshing to meet a chick-lit character who is living in Hollywood, is famous and amazingly rich, and yet maintains moral standards. She is a superstar dealing with things other teens face; as she prepares to host the biggest teen award show, she is nervous about a pimple. Calonita has a knack for nailing down most teens' perception of stardom, and for dotting the scene with famous names of both people and brands. Emily Garrett, Armstrong Elementary School, Sachse, TX
