Award-winning author and educator Dr. Don Gallo is a leading
authority on books for teenagers. He is also the editor of thirteen
short story anthologies for young adults, including Sixteen; First
Crossing: Stories About Teen Immigrants; What Are You Afraid Of?
Stories about Phobias; and Owning it: Stories about Teens with
Disabilities. A former junior high school English teacher, reading
specialist, and professor at Central Connecticut State University, as
well as a sought-after contributing writer, Don is also the editor of
the “Bold Books for Teenagers” column in the English Journal, author of
Presenting Richard Peck, and co-author (with Sarah K. Herz) of From
Hinton to Hamlet: Building Bridges Between Young Adult Literature and
the Classics, now in its second edition.
Don is the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the Connecticut Council of Teachers of English, an Outstanding English Language Arts Educator Award from the Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts, and the winner of the 1992 ALAN Award for outstanding contributions to the field of adolescent literature.
He and his wife C.J. Bott, a retired English teacher, live with two black cats and two Siberian huskies in Solon, Ohio, where he writes and edits full-time and maintains the Authors4Teens website. For more information about Don, visit www.Authors4Teens.com.
